These programs are centered on the tasks the athlete needs to perform in their specific sport. This tends to lead to weaknesses in areas that aren’t directly linked to it. We have found by improving all aspects of your general physical preparedness or GPP you will improve in of your sport. At CrossFit Stony Brook we track your cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. Our trainers will help you discover any area you may be weaker in and help you address it. They will evaluate your current training program and help you incorporate CrossFit, taking special care to prevent overtraining or injury.
Do you want to run a fast 5K, 10K half or Full Marathon? Do you bike or swim? Do bi’s and Tri’s? At CrossFit Stony Brook we have trainers that are experienced runners, bikers and endurance athletes. They have trained for and competed in many events like the Marine Corp Marathon, Philadelphia Marathon, the North Face Endurance Challenge and many others. We guarantee we can help you run, bike, swim, row faster. Many endurance athletes tend to lack strength or power; this comes from their tendency to work “cardio” more than lift weights. We will look at the way you train and your volume and add the appropriate amount of CrossFit training to improve your times. Most runners (for example) don’t really enjoy lifting weight, they like to run. Don’t worry, the workouts we give you aren’t the typical weight lifting exercises that are boring, and many of them will feel like “cardio”. Some endurance athletes already “hit the weights”, we can help you too.
Do you play football, soccer, rugby, hockey, basketball or another team sport? CrossFit is a great tool to help you improve in your sport. CrossFit is easy to adjust during for the season, pre-season, on season and off season. We can ratchet up the training during the offseason to make larger gains, then taper it down during the season and work on conditioning. This will help prevent injury and improve performance.

You have to push yourself through them and some will get harder as you go. All this will help prepare you for the grueling nature of your matches.
